Bleeding gums could be a sign that you have or are at risk for gum disease (periodontal disease). Periodontitis (gum disease / periodontal disease) strikes almost half of all adult Americans. It is one of the most common conditions in our population.
Gum disease is caused by plaque and bacteria that forms around the gumline and creates pockets between the teeth and gums. Over time, pockets deepen and removing plaque requires a deep cleaning.
Periodontitis can often not be completely reversed, but proper at-home care combined with in-office maintenance can prevent the disease from progressing and will keep the harmful bacteria at bay.
Do you notice bleeding gums when you brush your teeth?
If so, you should make an appointment with our office for a periodontal exam. At Periodontal Specialists of Vinings, our doctor is specially trained as a Periodontist. A periodontist is a dental specialist with years of extra training to be an expert in managing even the most difficult cases of gum disease.
We incorporate advanced technology to enhance our ability to treat our patients. This includes 3D Conebeam Imaging, which gives us a detailed and comprehensive view of your bone, jaw and gums structure, in 3D and full color! We also feature Waterlase® Virtually Pain Free Dentistry, a system that utilizes laser technology instead of traditional drills and shots. We offer Sedation Dentistry to our patients, including IV Sedation. Our office is paperless, and utilizes low radiation digital x-rays that use 90% less radiation and provides immediate images to quickly diagnose hidden problems.
